Best Banks/Groups for Becoming a Career Banker?

Interested in potentially pursuing banking as a long-term career path. Not so interested in being absolutely grinded to the bone for 2 years for PE exits. What would be generally good banks to build a long-term career at? Looking for banks/groups where burnout can reasonably be avoided and leadership is strong/friendly to promotions. I know this is sort of vague, but any insight would be much appreciated!

Honestly can become one from any bank/group. The actual individuals at the top matters much more as they set the tone. If they like to mentor the EDs and Ds below them, it will trickle down. Check the actual groups to see how many MDs are internally promoted

Good to know, interested in hearing if there are specific banks people would recommend that generally have this kind of culture?

Completely individual driven. Even within a bank each group is ran like their own fiefdom. Maybe check the company websites for MD backgrounds

For a full career I think the people in structured finance have stayed longest from what I can see. Hours are generally better and the banks will pay the same as buyside firms in a lot of ways. It's more niche, but if you're good at it then you'll make a lot.
