Best Consumer / Media & Entertainment Groups to Lateral Into

Currently A1 in a technology-focused M&A boutique, soon to be A2. The experience has been great but it's starting to dawn on me that technology doesn't excite me at all.

Sitting through endless due diligence calls between engineers or programmers is a slog and I always end up losing focus. None of the transactions feel particularly interesting either, since all the strategy that's involved is "X company is acquired by Y company, so that X's software can be integrated into Y's product offering". I think at the end of the day, my interest lies in Consumer or Media & Entertainment, where the products feel tangible and closer to home, and an acquisition actually has to consider a company's footprint, customer base, distribution models, etc.

I want to start networking to see what options are out there in Consumer or Media groups in BBs / EBs, or just specialized investment banks in general.

Some names I've heard tossed around are on the media side are LionTree, Allen & Company, as an example.
