Would say as a general rule the groups that do the most debt financing perform the best during recessions.

I have to say I have a lot of respect for sticking up for one's beliefs, particularly when it's not convenient. Trust you'll find a solution that works for you and works out in the end.
I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to discuss with staffers ahead of time to see what arrangements can be made (obviously not before interviews, but in between when you get an offer and group placement)
