Best Group at J.P. Morgan NYC?
I received an offer for IBD SA at J.P. Morgan. What is the best group for JPM in NYC? I'm interested to energy and commodities but I'm open to anything.

IMO Healthcare - top notch group and always in the top few in the league tables...heard culture is good but no details available as such
Healthcare is a great group, but you get absolutely crushed. Like, it's really bad. The people are great though - I know a few who exited to D.E. Shaw and Visium (back before shit hit the fan with them). Don't know of specific PE exits. M&A and Sponsors are also very strong. Media & Comm is great, avoid the NY Tech group as with MS for analyst exits (I believe they recently split the two though I could be wrong).
Don't know anything specific about the Energy group there.
Yeah, definitely not healthcare. Heard it is ridiculous hours.
Honestly tho you will get crushed in any coverage group or M&A, but it is definitely worse on the margin. I don't think hours worked should impact your decision that much though
Yup tech is pretty much run out of SF now especially for junior bankers. NY is all M&T, though I might add that M&T will do tech deals occasionally due to the relation an MD might have with a tech CEO. Have firsthand experience with this
