Best industry for corporate development compensation?
Looking to lateral from a sponsor-backed HVAC roll-up that’s currently comping me at $70,000 base + 5% target bonus. Assuming I’m industry agnostic and interested in strategic M&A (no sponsor), where should I be looking to maximize compensation, transaction volume and upward mobility?
Tech and Healthcare are usually the place to go for higher comp. I know FIG corp dev roles are above average from what I'm aware of too. Industrials usually pay on the lower end from my experience, and energy is a scattershot depending on upstream/midstream/downstream/renewables.
Thanks for the reply. Do you have any specifics on verticals in HC? I can see tech being a bit of a monolith, but I’d guess that there are variations in comp between HC services, biopharma, medtech, etc.
Within energy, is upstream the highest paid?
You are getting hosed on comp my friend
Exactly why I’m trying to jump ship, lol. I work far too many hours and have had to cancel far too many plans for me to be paid at or below the folks at the company barely clocking in 30.
