Best laptop for Undergrad?
Title says it, but I’ve been looking at a few and need to get my own. Have heard good things about Thinkpad X1, MacBook Air, any better suggestions?

My firm hands out Dell Latitude 5410-5420s and I like them so much more than think pads.
Keyboard feels nicer to me too
Mine gave me a latitude 5490 and I want to smash it against a wall. It’s a brick
I stand by my XPS 13. Awesome laptop.
Second this. Got an XPS15 as a current student and have loved it so far. Screen is fuckin massive and have been able to upgrade a ton of specs and other things.
I have the same laptop, which I love, but it keeps crapping out on me. What were you able to upgrade and how much did it end up costing you?
IMO Macbook is by far the best for personal use / your typical college items. I have a Macbook that I used for all of college and once I graduated picked up a like $800 laptop to do work stuff on. The X1 is great for work but just ok for personal, if you're just entering college that's gonna be a pretty old laptop by the time you're even using it for work
Yeah its awesome for modeling
Thinkpad X1 all day, made the mistake of getting a Mac 1st year of undergrad and switched by the end of the year
Seems ~80% of kids at my college have a MacBook, I have the Pro and don’t love it. Would have probably preferred Windows and while a Mac hasn’t been an issue while at college (I’m studying Finance and Econ), I wish I could get more Excel/PowerPoint reps in Windows without it being a hassle
I got a MacBook Pro, excel keyboard shortcuts are different to desktops. Keep that in mind.
If your using Bloomberg there might be things to download, I’ve recently had to download things to support Bloomberg on my Mac.
Happy hunting.
Lenovo Slim 7 pro. Used to have a Mac and switched to this second year of undergrad. Def worth it
Have a Mac and parallel desktop along with an external keyboard and mouse. Have the best of both worlds
I bought a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5. It wasn't too expensive and it's pretty fast, however, the main reason I like it is that it has 360 fold, it is good if you want to run a second monitor while using a separate keyboard/mouse. Overall the specific laptop doesn't really matter unless you are doing anything CS-related, just don't get a Chromebook.
