Big4 Corporate Finance Lateral Hires

Fellow monkeys,

I am a month into my big four analyst program in Corporate Finance, but it has always only been as a means to get into investment banking.

Can anyone in IB please shed some light on any of these:

A) How to get into IB from a year in Big 4 (how to position for an offer etc.)

B) Is it a common thing that happens?

C) Is there anything I can be doing in the meantime to maximise my chance.

Any help is greatly appreciated

have done it personally, best bet is to get significant deal experience in the current job and hopefully wait until a deal has closed so you can talk about it in excruciating detail in interviews

try to target M&A groups and your ability to hit the ground running through your experience running a sale process/managing the VDR etc. etc.

general consensus is that lateraling in as an experienced analyst is very much doable given you are already doing IB work
