Biotech PE to Healthcare IBD?

Ladies and gentlemen of WSO, I could really appreciate your input on what you would do in my situation.

I'm posting in the investment banking forum because I'm considering trying to lateral to bb/mm ibd from my pe role. If you have other ideas please let me know.

I'm in a very small VC firm, focused on investing in biotech startups (early stage, pre revenue). It was my dream job, but things went south shortly after I joined and long story short I'm now the only person in the "investing team" (everyone else works in a function e.g. legal / finance or is the CEO). Also the fund is now closed (not what was sold to me when taking the job).

Most days a lot of people work from home, so I'm often the only person in the office which is pretty boring. It's difficult for me to lateral to a better fund because competition for these roles is high and most have a PhD in life sciences and I only have a bachelors.

I'm therefore thinking the best route forward would be healthcare m&a to basically gain more transaction exposure and industry contacts. Also considering research but ultimately I want to end back in pe anyway at somewhere more established, so I'm thinking m&a may be a better route.

Thanks for any help!
