Bonus Venting
Need to vent about my fucking bonus - number was solid, not great but on the low end of what I expected.
But the fucking payout terms are absolutely bullshit: 50% at end of year, 25% in March and 25% in June.
If this is supposed to be for retention, it's having the opposite effect.
Anyone else have to deal with this stupidity?
Since when do firms do this lol it’s normally one lump sum payment
We were an 80 / 20 split two years ago, 70 / 30 last year -- a ton of juniors left after getting fucked last year, so I guess this is revenge.
I believe houlihan does 80 in august 20 in November for analysts. Assume aso and up have something similar
Please don’t respond to OPs that don’t list their title and bank and actual bonus number. Don’t encourage this behavior by interacting with them when they purposely don’t give numbers.
Director in restructuring (as noted), the rest is irrelevant to the question.
Was asking about payout terms, not amounts.

Just tell us how much money you make, chimp
At one bank I’ve heard of 1/3 at year end and then 1/3 at the end of the next year, and then 1/3 at the end of 2 years. Needless to say that bank has been having retention challenges
I mean, just say the bank if you don’t have skin in the game
Is all of this cash? Equity comp vesting is pretty standard (like 20-30% of bonus) but never heard of cash being deferred like this
All cash
Is this all cash or further deferred stock comp? If all cash, doesn’t sound like the absolute worst thing ever
All cash - not the worst thing ever. Just obnoxious.
Most publicly traded banks do stock options with 4 year vesting. this sounds preferable to that, a small silver lining.
My firm's is 50% in January and 50% in July. All cash.
