Boutique Investment Bank vs. Physics Research
I am currently freshman in college, and I hope to get some kind of investment banking internship at a BB during junior year summer. While I do not have any offers yet, I am preparing for the possibility of either conducting paid physics research at a university, working unpaid in a very very small no-name boutique, or working unpaid a ~$2 billion hedge fund.
In terms of my future in investment banking, is the advantage afforded by working in a hedge fund significantly more than from conducting paid physics research in a university setting?
yes
