Break into IB

I really want to break into IB but having a lot of trouble doing so. I just graduated this past spring in 2024 from a non-target state school in the PNW. My father is an MD at a boutique patent brokerage firm which also has a venture capital firm which he is also an MD for which is branched off but still attached to the overall brokerage firm. I was having a lot of trouble getting an internship my Junior year, as there honestly not a lot of opportunities here in the PNW for investment banking, let alone any finance job besides your shitty Northwestern Mutual Sales job.I applied for finance internships everywhere across the US and got nothing. So I told him I'd work for free as long as I could use it to build my resume. I got the job as an internship and returned to it after graduation which I got put as $35 and hour, and currently working at which isn't bad at all. The job is pretty nice bad except for the CEO (won't dive into details). I technically have two roles, one being a intellectual property specialist, and the other being a venture capital analyst for the VC branch. Two very different roles but I have learned a lot and am very grateful I have the opportunity to work there. (thank god for nepotism). The problem is there is no way for me to grow within the company (I have been explicitly told) and I have always wanted to break into IB, or let alone any mid/high finance role. At this point the past month I have applied to over 100 jobs, within IB, financial analyst roles, VC analyst roles, PE roles, wealth management, real estate, everything you name it and I am getting rejected every time. While this isn't incredibly surprisingly since I didn't go to a target school would figure I would get at least one interview maybe, but that is not the case. I know the city I work in is dead (I am sure you can figure out where) so I have been looking everywhere, and been applying to a lot of roles within southern California. I do have a somewhat decent network, (father being an MD, and uncle also ex-MD at big investment management company on wall street) but it hasn't got me as far as I thought. I thought about maybe looking into roles within intellectual property but even with that, everywhere requires a law degree or a registered PTO certification so thats off the table for the moment. So I am just looking for some advice. I have done tons of cold emails too using linkedin and rocket reach, and always get the same response along the lines of: "thanks for reaching out but we typically only hire analysts with previous IB internships" or "we currently aren't hiring at the moment". I am not singly focused on IB, any other finance role would be great as said but I have really exhausted my options. Any advice would be great.
