Breaking into Syndicated Loans?
Apologies if this isn't as IB-related as I assume - perhaps there should be a forum for corporate/comm banking. I'm currently operating in the treasury department of a South American bank (U.S. office though) where we participate in corporate Syndicated Loans with contributions of $10-20m. I mostly read legal docs written by the arranging banks, analyze the borrower's financial statements, and see if there's any risk factors in participating in syndicated loans.
This has me wondering what it's like to be the arranger or even the agent in these deals. To those who are working in the Syndicate Loans space, What's the work like? And how did you break in?
Are you curious what different groups at banks work on these or what the process is like for arranging one?
