Building Attention to Detail

Given banking has long hours and high pressure, how does a young analyst/associate keep a high amount on focus and good attention to detail.

What are good habits and routines to pick up.

PS: pls don't say Adderall for the love of god.

A few things:

  • Reduce/remove mind less phone scrolling or phone usage in general - has an impact on every aspect of life, including attention to detail
  • No Fap
  • Don’t multitask as far as possible- try to build your attention on a single task
  • Closed eye Meditation or open eye meditation
  • Exercise to keep the brain/body fresh
  • Reduce caffeine intake
  • Limit alcohol consumption
  • Reduce sugar consumption

Ive heard from multiple people no caffeine helps overall mood and focus. Im still trying to get my intake slowly down, gone from 600-800mg a day down to 200-300mg and can say anxiety has been reduced a ton

Matthew McConaughey would disagree with no fap. He said I need to do it multiple times a day.

This is a brain dead take; I understand it’s meant to be funny but people may take seriously. This just isn’t the case. Porn in particular will kill your focus, like any short-term high (scrolling, video games included. Agree the average often successful wall streeter probably jacks off twice a day many days. But they might be better off without

Just comes with time, really. I had pretty bad ATD at the start of the year and whilst it's not PERFECT now, I am able to spot things now that I wouldn't have been able to then.
