Burnt out 2nd Year

Any 2nd years feeling burnt out? I feel like I've lost the energy and dynamism I had when I started. Getting through every day is a brutal grind. What's the solution? A week or two off? About to turn associate but can't shake this fatigue.

Happened to me (different industry, but similar workload)

When you’re burned out, you may not know the root cause - whether it’s lack of rest or you’ve lost interest in the work.

Getting promoted means you’ll get exposed to more complex responsibilities, so that might allow you to solve the interest-related cause. Might be useful to take a break for a couple of weeks and see if you come back refreshed.

In my case I took a month break - about 10 days I used just to sleep in and be lazy, and 20 days I used travelling locally and doing recreation. Helped a lot, but I also realised that my passion wasn’t there so I moved to IB. Feeling more driven now but I’m sure I might need another break sometime in the next couple of years!
