Caffeine

Has anyone seen research on the healthiest way to get an artificial energy boost?

Coffee Caffeine pills Monster Celsius

I’m equating energy boost source with caffeine. Open to other suggestions. But getting to the age where I’ve never consumed caffeine in large amounts and it feels like getting a boost every once in a while would do wonders for productivity. Don’t need your opinion on whether I should consumer caffeine. Need your opinion on caffeine sources and any data or studies pointing to little issue with consuming it.

Thanks

Caffeine is the best and most sustainable, but the source of caffeine plays a very large part in how you feel. I switched from coffee to exclusively Yerba Mate and it has made a huge difference. It lasts much longer, but is a lot smoother in that there's no come up or noticeable crash. I much prefer it to coffee or energy drinks. The taste is acquired and can range from earthy and grassy to bong water (avoid the smoked yerba). I buy Mate Factor organic fresh green loose herb tea on Amazon - check it out.

Celsius is great, amazon and costco have them in large packs which can be a lot more affordable than paying 4 bucks a can at the Bodega. It boosts metabolism which is great for a job that entails a lot of sedentary time. For people who don't like caffeine try a B12 vitamin. But at the end of the day, your best tool is proper sleep, a healthy diet, and a regular exercise schedule. No amount of drugs/stimulants can overcome innate physical insufficiencies...aside from maybe Meth

I don't have articles backing this up, but I recall reading that some of the natural molecules found in coffee like alkaloids, flavonoids, etc. are slightly beneficial to your health, and are a reason to drink coffee, tea, or yerba mate rather than caffeine pills or energy drinks (of course, energy drinks nowadays could now be adding these into their formulas -- I mostly drink coffee so I wouldn't know).

One thing I'd consider adding that I do have a supporting article for is taking both caffeine and L-Theanine, an amino acid that works in tandem with caffeine -- it has a calming effect, making the energy you get smoother and more consistent: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18681988/ , https://examine.com/supplements/theanine/
