Cain Brothers San Francisco - deal flow, culture, pay, bonus, exit opps?
Title is self-explanatory. Thoughts on Cain Brothers SF office? How's their deal flow? Do their analysts go to PE/corporate? If so, what kind of shops? Are head hunters actively looking at this office?
How's it compare to NY office? What's office culture like and how does it compare to HQ?
How's pay relative to street? Bonus?
Would like to know more about office from high-level. thx
Not terribly familiar with them in the first place but they were just acquired by KeyBanc so I am not sure how that will change things going forward for them. I know that when Keybanc acquired Pacific Crest a few years ago, several top guys left the firm.
Was a good MM HC shop. SF was looking for talent more than NYC (typically experienced analysts, associates, occasional VP). Not sure how the work is split between the different offices, but it was a respected name that had solid deal flow.
I believe pay is slightly below top tier MM (HL, Baird, LMM, Blair), but still good.
I'd be wary of spending more than a year or two there because of the certain turnover as a result of the KeyBanc acquisition. Non-equity MDs are probably going to leave sooner than later and equity MDs are locked up for 2-3 years, but will probably mail it in. This is based on what you see with most acquisitions of solid MM boutiques.
Bump for more thoughts?
Meh, you'd be much better off at any other MM
