Can I learn to build an lbo from scratch in ~48 hours?
I have like a basic or probably intermediate understanding of how they work and have done some before on the job but all were using templates.. long story short I have an interview early next week. Can I learn to build a 3-statement model from scratch by then? Also know there are some great resources on here for where to look but would appreciate any other insight on that as well.
With a few addys a vyvanse and some coffee you should be chillin
bump for resources
Yes you can. If you have a decent grasp of accounting principals and aren’t starting at zero. If you don’t understand how the 3 financial stmts work then no.
If you need help with 3-statement model building, PM me
Yea if you grind it’s easy.
A high schooler taking AP classes could learn this too if they knew accounting
PM me if you need help.
Update - I did it.. was easy
what resources did u use
Am drunk, will respond tomorrow
Alright this is what I did but don't come at me saying there are better ways, this is just what I did. Also typing from phone so excuse formatting.. (1)
- I watched this on 1.25x speed while also trying to replicate what the instructor did in excel on another screen. Then I took screenshots of the prompt and tried to recreate the excel without the video playing, and went back to check against the correct version he did. This guy honestly did make a few minor mistakes but think its a great intro video to get a basic understanding of how to build it from scratch. (2) https://mergersandinquisitions.com/lbo-modeling-test/ - then I practiced the hour LBO practice test here. I did it without watching the video first (just going off the excel template) and then went back and watched the video after I was done to double check what they did vs. what I did. This site also has a great table that tells you what to expect based on the time limit of the test, which in my case they told me in advance (3) https://www.wallstreetprep.com/knowledge/leveraged-buyout-lbo-modeling-… - then I took this practice test. Same thing, tried just from the excel first and then watched the video to check for any variances. (4) Rinse and repeat if you got any of the prior ones wrong just to make sure you can do it right without video correcting (5) https://www.wallstreetprep.com/knowledge/advanced-lbo-modeling-test-4-h… - this was a little bit overkill considering mine was only an hour but I also looked at this briefly.. I didnt actually do the whole test or even watch the video but just looked at the completed excel version to try to understand how certain random factors would impact the model in theory (OID, an acquisition in the forecast etc.), so that I could try to work it in if needed.Bump - can you share your process?
