Can investor relations work boost my chances for IBD?

Hi again WSO,

As always, your opinions and advice from experience are much appreciated.

I recently came across an opportunity in investor relations - it's a temporary junior position that would last a few months. Do you think that including this in my resume would have a positive impact on my profile during banking interviews?

For some context, I'm a non-target graduating in May, and here is what work I include on my resume right now:

- M&A spring analyst at boutique firm (current)
- Equity research intern at boutique firm
- Management consulting SA, MM firm, overseas
- Asset Management intern, MM firm

I don't think it would be advantageous to crunch 5 different jobs on my resume, especially since they aren't all in banking (I think I'm best off focusing on the M&A and consulting jobs since I got the most exposure there). However, my experience at the asset management firm, though long (2 years) is old as hell (left in 2010).

To clarify, the IR job has weird hours, allowing me to keep performing well in my banking internship.

So might taking on this second job in IR be a worthwhile pursuit? Will it show commitment and dedication, or just make me seem all over the place with regard to my career interests?

Thanks again everyone.
