Can someone provide a list of merchant banks or IBs with merchant banking divisions
I wanted a list of banks that along with advisory, are also involved in buyout/growth equity investing. A few I know of are Raine, Liontree, MIRA (Macquarie) and Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking.
Roths, also GSMBD is now under GSAM
Rothschild's merchant banking group is called Five Arrows.
Piper has a merchant banking group
Just wanted to clarify that MIRA is not a function of merchant banking, it is a traditional fund. Macquarie Principal Finance invests the firm's balance sheet alongside the advisory arm.
Do you have any insight on what the Infrastructure Investment and Development (IID) team under IEG in Macquarie does?
BDT, Incentrum
Correct
Growth-y merchant banks: BDT, Raine, Incentrum, Middlemarch, Broadhaven, Berenson, Croft & Bender
Distress merchant banks: Carl Marks & Co, SOLIC Capital, Seabury Group, Birch Lake
I think they all do on some level. I know Wells has a team with people in CLT and SF doing Strategic Investments (growth & buyout IIRC)
