Can't go to on campus presentation
A bank that I am very interested in is coming to campus on Thursday evening. However, I am in class at the time and attendance is mandatory (since I have missed the class once already my absence would mean a drop in a letter grade).
About a month ago I reached out to an analyst at the bank and talked with him on the phone. We hit it off and he encourage me to go to the on campus presentation to learn more about the firm.
What should I do in this circumstance? Is not going to the presentation going to seriously hurt my chances at landing an interview?
Send him an email or call him and let him know you have class that you can't miss. Is there a reception or anything afterwards that you can catch the tail end of after class?
negotiate with the professor?
If the class has more then 1 session, ask to go to the other time-slot.
If not, tell him this is very important to you and you will make up the class/work somehow.
"Mandatory attendance" in college is bullshit, as is "mandatory homework."
