Career Change into IB

Hello IB gods and goddesses,

I come to you bearing gifts in search of that succulent fruit, knowledge. I'm a late 20's career changer from medicine intensely interested in IB. As my formal education and background is in biology/psychology/healthcare I know I have a lot to learn before seeking my first job in the industry. My questions to you:

  1. What resources (books, websites, courses, etc.) would you recommend for someone in my position to get a solid foundational knowledge?

  2. Is there a formal progression, in terms of education or position, you would recommend to get into the industry?

Please be constructive, though I can appreciate some of you will enjoy putting me on blast. Consider that I know what I'm getting into. Hoping to find some useful nuggets of gold in your responses among the turds. Would appreciate insight from individuals currently holding jobs in IB, as well as those who exited IB for opportunities in PE, VC, HF (please explain what led you personally to switch).
