I wouldn't worry about a career on Wall Street precluding you from a role in the Democratic party. Just because right now the party hates Wall Street doesn't mean they will 10-15 years from now. Most Treasury department heads regardless of party come from Wall Street. Also Jon Corzine was at Goldman for 25ish years and then a senator and NJ governor at some point.
