career move advice

request your opinion on which would be better the option. currently analyst at boutique shop.

1) execution, boutique shop, substantive deal flow, analyst->associate role 2) non-execution, bb, substantial senior exec exposure, analyst (most likely)

of the two situations, which would offer better career development, mba prospects, exit opportunities?

your opinions are greatly appreciated.

From my experience, I would definitely go to the BB for future prospects. I dont have a job in IBD yet, but all the interviews I've had are because I work in a BB subsidiary (thus I had that name in big bold letters on my resume).

Im in the same boat as you. My guess would be when we are looking for that post-analyst job, we just have to sell what we learned much harder than if we came from a bb. Our raw intelligence will be discounted since people assume we could not get into a bb (which is probably right). Honestly, the experience im getting at my boutique is probably better, and im working with top5 mba grads, but if a recruiter never heard of the company, it depends on my story.
