Career path question from continental Europe

Hi guys,

i am currently doing an off-cycle M&A internship at a top 10 I-bank's regional office in continental Europe, where I'm also studying. I have always wanted to pursue my banking career in London, but stumbled on some issues I would like to have your advice on.

As I understand, generally people intern in their penultimate year in order to start as a full-time analyst after their final year. Considering I am almost finished with my studies here (only have to write that suptid thesis), I am wondering what my changes are of getting hired as a full time analyst for next summer without any U.K. banking experience. Alternatively, I could apply as a summer intern in the UK, and try to get a full time offer for the year thereafter (herad that most of the hires in the UK follow this path). However, this would mean that I would have to fill this "gap" year with other stuff....

Just want to know from you guys what would be the smart thing to do from a strategic view as I like to plan things in advance. Thanks in advance for you comments.
