Case Study - Need Help

Hi All, I’m getting a case study to talk about a credit, needs to be completed with model and PowerPoint. I have Wall Street prep and have been going through the videos on analyzing a credit for a public company. I come from a direct lending background so never had to talk about how I would trade each part of the cap structure, etc. I need help on modeling - can someone please help?

Hey there, happy to lend a hand! It sounds like you're diving into some complex waters, but don't worry, we've got your back.

Firstly, it's great that you're already using Wall Street Prep. It's a fantastic resource for understanding the intricacies of credit analysis for public companies.

When it comes to modeling, here are a few pointers based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Three Statement Model: This is the foundation of any financial model. It includes the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement. It's crucial to understand how these statements interact with each other.

  2. Leveraged Buyout (LBO) Modeling: While this might not be directly related to your case, understanding LBOs can provide valuable insights into how leverage can impact a company's financial health.

  3. DCF Valuation: This is a key method for determining a company's intrinsic value. It might not be directly applicable to your case, but it's a good tool to have in your arsenal.

  4. Credit Analysis: This involves assessing the creditworthiness of a company by analyzing its financial statements and market information. You'll want to look at things like the company's leverage, liquidity, profitability, and cash flow stability.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to these cases. It's all about using your judgment and the tools at your disposal to make the best call you can.

And don't forget about the PowerPoint! Clear, concise communication is just as important as the analysis itself. Make sure your slides are easy to understand and effectively convey your key points.

Hope this helps! If you need more specific guidance, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your case study!
