Casual Chat or Informal Interview

Hey Monkeys!

Recently contacted an MD and he forwarded my email to someone. It turned out that a senior VP replied me today saying he would love to meet up with in the office for a "quick chat".

Monkeys, given the significance of a SVP in the recruitment process, I cant help thinking it is a informal interview or a pre-interview? What's your thoughts and comments?

I will definitely bring my resume but not sure if I should dress up for this? Or simply shirt and pants will do? Thank you so much.

bdiddyI've never brought my resume when meeting someone. I think it sends the message that you are only using them for a job (which even though both of you know this, you still have to pretend otherwise). I've never been asked for my resume either at a info interview either. Usually if they want it they'll just say send me a copy when you get back home.

I always do that during my informal interview, and dont feel the guilty of feeling I was using them for the job purpose. Dont think bankers, apart from those really nice and free ones, would want to waste their time on some random students' requests. You have to earn your respect and attention through your past internship and other achievement. So when they would like to meet up with you in the middle of the day, it does mean something even if it doesnt lead to a formal interview. Bringing your resume and passing it to the person actually save both parties lots of time in communicating the past background and accessing the qualification.
