How hard is it to move from corporate banking to investment banking within the same firm? And also, outside the firm? Personal stories?

Not very hard.
From my CB internship there was a grad in my team who moved to lev fin same firm, another intern went to DCM same firm and I went to IB different firm.
It’s definitely doable if you want it
did you see people going into coverage? not really that interested in debt lol.
Also, did you move to a respectable IB firm or a really small one?
Firm change was also an upgrade from a (Macquarie/BNP/RBC) to a (Barc, CS, UBS). I was the only one who went to coverage from my colleagues but I didn’t find it difficult. I had 3 offers for IB coming from CB. Also I don’t go to a target. (London based here but I’m sure similar applies)
