Change in Group Coverage IBD London

Hi WSO Forum,

I am an incoming IBD Analyst at a Mid-Tier BB in London. Because I interned at a regional office of the firm, I was not able to really choose which industry team I was gonna end up in (and quite frankly the way the market is right now I am very happy to have the offer in the first place). I know that the Industry Coverage Group I am in now does not really interest me all that much. How common is it to switch groups at Bulge Bracket Banks and at what time does this usually happen? Do I have to remain in this group my entire Analyst Program or do people already switch around before?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Yes, there is one particular group I worked with heavily during my internship and I would be much more interested in working there. Any advice regarding the timeline of a potential transition? Because I am afraid that if I spend to long in my current group, it will become increasingly more difficult to switch as it is rather niche.
