London GeorgeDo you speak Mandarin and/or have a good network?

Recruiting to the UK is much more similar to the US.

EDIT: Plain stupid post btw.

I should rephrase my question. What is the competition for IB jobs like overseas compared to the U.S.?

Your best bet is in an Anglophone country in the West. Then maybe Singapore. Language and cultural constraints are likely to limit your opportunities elsewhere.

No, I doubt it. The system of corporate governance and "guanxi" gives those with a little common sense and a well-connected family a lot of leverage when looking for employment- even if they are quite dim. Even if you are a Mandarin/Cantonese speaker, there's the strong possibility that you'll just be viewed as an outsider.

Perhaps it would be best for someone with experience to chime in though. I'm only relaying some of the experiences I've heard from friends; I have no interest in working in (/no connection with) China or Asia.
