Choosing between two extremes
Settle an argument for me. If you had to choose one, would it be better to come off as too cocky or too humble in a banking interview?

Humble every single time. Not even a question. Would you rather work with some arrogant dick who thinks he is god's gift when in reality he's read a couple of accounting books and knows the theory behind a DCF but has no real world experience, or would you want to work alongside a guy who will accept when he is wrong and acknowledges that he is NOT a rockstar.

WHAT YOU REALLY MEANT TO ASK WAS WOULD YOU RATHER TAKE IN THE VAGINA OR THE ASSHOLE.
Always too humble in this economic climate. If you show up as cocky and you talk a big game and miss a technical question, you're dead in the water. A humble guy knows how to avoid them or spin it so that you can actually get some "help" being walked through certain questions you may not understand.
