Starting work this July as a 1st year ibd analyst in London at a BB. Could anyone share any insights about the allocation to teams? Are we allocated by the HR, or are we given a list that we can rank in terms of preferences? When does it happen? During training?

How does the Citi group selection process work for new analysts? Is it still after training and heavily dependent on exam scores?
I am not sure about across the pond. However, I know in the US you preference your groups and the groups preference their potential analysts to serve on their team.
It's always a combination of your preference, your technical skills (exam scores come into play here I guess), but above all your personality.
