Citi London FT group allocation/Internal Mobility for interns

Hi everyone,

Can anyone comment the group allocation process at Citi and whether it’s possible to switch teams after completing a summer or off-cycle internship for joining FT? Can you e.g. transition from capital markets roles (ECM/DCM/LevFin) to industry groups/M&A and the other way round?

At my BB there is a process to get reallocated in a team before starting FT.

The caveat being it’s not quite clear which teams are available and you lose your spot in the team you opted out of - so you could go from PG&U to ECM, because you aimed for TMT but TMT either didn’t opt in to get a transfer or took someone else, so you got put into ECM for example.

So the reallocation process is only for interns who actively seek to change teams, not for everyone? Would networking with people in the favourite team during the internship and asking about reallocation in advance increase the chances of being reallocated successfully?
