CMT and then what?

I was a software engineer in first half of my career - nearly 6 years. Then I did MBA in finance from not-so-well-known university in Boston. After graduating I am trying hard to enter in to investment industry - especially IB. My logic behind not pursuing CFA is - I completed my MBA in finance; so strong overall knowledge in Finance and probably not requiring CFA at entry in to some IB. I am considering to take CMT designation and thus planning to take CMT level 1 test soon. My question is - what type of job roles can I get in IB after earning the designation? After pursuing CMT, does CQF add any value to my job role?
