Cobblestone Advisors

Any thoughts on these guys? Apparently they're an off-shoot of Harris Williams and focus on the lower middle-market area, whatever that means. Does anyone have info on the people and work they do? Are they a big step down from Harris Williams? Any info would be appreciated.

Yea basically the little guy to HW, they just do much smaller deals. I think they are in philly, and the guys from HW who helped found/open/run Cobblestone are great, though I think a few are now back in Richmond.

I don't think they are step down from HW necessarily, but you will be working on smaller deals, which to some people may be a step down. I think overall, if the experience is similar to that of being in a HW office, then it should be a good stint.

To reiterate the above, Cobblestone is the "small deals" vertical within Harris Williams. I believe the range is more like $100mm than it is $25-$200mm. They are split between HW's Philly and Richmond offices, but aren't in any of their other offices. Lifestyle is better in this division and resembles a boutique more than an MM firm. Pay also gets a haircut to the HW guys, but HW pays above street, so it is probably comparable to the street. Prestige takes a bit of a hit too, though riding the coat-tails of the Harris Williams name ought to ensure you placement in private equity after two years.
