Cold-Email Recruiters?

So I go to a non-target and have been networking extensively through alumni and have seen great results so far from the "informational interview technique".

However, there were a few BBs and elite boutiques I was not able to find alumni at. I am going to search for random Director/MD types at these banks to cold-email but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried cold-emailing recruiters as well?

One of my friends goes to a Target and gave me the names for a couple recruiters that have come to his campus. Is it worth a shot to cold-email them? I guess since they don't work in IB or S&T that it pointless to ask for an informational interview so I just need to be straight-forward ask about summer analyst opportunities?

I know recruiters don't have any hiring power but has anyone ever done this? Any success? Should I attach my resume or just name drop the BB I worked for last sumer? Should I lie and tell them I found their contact information on Linkedin or tell them I received it from a friend?

In my experience any cold email to a recruiter will just receive the following reply:

"Thank for your interest in __________. We welcome you to submit an application through our online system at __________.com"

Maybe worth a shot but obviously cold emailing bankers will be much more helpful.

Cold-emailing analysts, associates or MDs usually involves asking for an informational interview or connecting on a personal level (in such a way as to get them to believe that they might like to spend 18 hours a day with you).

Recruiters are typically less likely to set those meetings up with you (as is my understanding) and you'd hardly have a good reason to ask them for one, given the fact that you'll never directly work with them.

I'd simply recommend being honest with them, stating that you're looking for a position, and including an application consisting of a CV/Cover Letter and Transcript (depending on your level of experience).

i don't know if you're trolling or not. But if you aren't: how many times does it needed to be said around here that it is a BAD idea to cold-email resumes asking for jobs? Especially at a BB bank with a rigid hiring process...

And if you're looking @ IB, FT recruiting ended like 3 months ago. Aim for boutiques.

I'm curious, how could this possibly hurt a candidate as you say its a BAD idea? I understand the rigid process but why not at least send it with a note stating you know you missed the normal recruiting time but want to express interest for a future opportunity?

We've got half a million shares in the bag!

I tried the alumnii route, didn't work out for me. I am a senior looking for a FT, the reason I am reaching out now is because I have been interning at a boutique investment bank which has made my resume a lot better. And Ya I want to cold call but I can't seem to find the phone numbers, alls I have is names.
