Cold emailing for MM/UMM buyside internships
Has anyone had any luck emailing 3b+ firms for summer internships? Or do they mostly take from online applicants.

It can 100% work. I did this for my freshman summer internship. I'd focus on quantity of outreach vs quality. I sent around 300 emails and got a few responses, but just remember that you only need 1 response. Try emailing alumni or anyone you have a connection with. If not, just reach out to anyone high up or a recruiter.
Did you manage to get something substantial/name brand for freshman year? I.e. 2-3b+ fund or mm ib? I did the same strategy last year and only managed to get very ad hoc boutique IB internships, but nothing really name-brand for my CV.
