College Freshman - Where to look for an internship? What companies hire?

Writing this post for my younger sister - a college freshman at a "target" (for the west coast) business school in LA. Does anyone know any companies that offer summer internships for incoming sophomores? Anything finance related would help her to figure out if finance is the right track for her.

I know it's a bit early early, but it's always good to get an early start. I look back and wish I had applied to "legit" internships earlier on in my college career. Any programs offered by BB that you know of or suggest? Or where to look?

Hi I’m currently a junior at a good business school also in the LA area. I recommend networking as soon as possible. Send emails, ask for informational interviews, and establish connections with nearby Investment Management firms or banks. Few firms are likely to give you an internship, but networking and cold emailing/ calling are good options and will place you in a better position to find opportunities.

Make sure you also take advantage of any networking fairs at your school so you can meet people and establish meaningful connections

Also, there are many big banks that offer career development programs for underclass men. They are competitive to get into but they offer networking opportunities. From these programs, You get to know the firm’s business and how they operate as well as internship knowledge. Look into JP Morgan’s launching leaders program or Goldman’s Undergraduate camp.
