Common investment structures

Hi there,

What are the most common type of deal structures offered by PE and growth equity funds to the target/investee? I have seen mostly preferred shares (participating and non part) with cash/pik interests where the valaution is adjusted to reflect the target ownership of the investor.

Are there books or resources that highlight the different deal structures and parameters that institutional investors can play with?

Thanks
