Interviewing for a position at a firm this summer that is a major player in their industry. My uncle works at the number 1 competitor of this company and is pretty high up. Would it be helpful or hurtful to mention that my uncle works at the competing firm?

Why even mention it? Unless it is part of your backstory for why you are interested, there is no reason to mention it and there is definitely no reason to bring up his name.
