Consulting or Equity Research to move to Private Equity.

I am currently finishing my last year in college. I have an offer from a MM Investment Bank to go into equity research and also have an offer from Deloitte to start in consulting. I am considering which route would be best for career progression into private equity. Would appreciate some feedback.

MM ER - more relevant experience

Absolutely not lmao.  Strategy consultant + finance modelling skills (which you'd need to study on your own) is a better fit for PE especially as you move beyond the associate stage.  Deloitte isn't MBB so that may limit the type of PE that will give you looks (ie MF) but that same dynamic applies to MM banks as well

Transitioning from ER to PE is really difficult. If you want PE go consulting or try and lateral into an IB role. Check out the ER forum for more details.
