Contacts/Fairs
I've had a chance to attend a few career fairs/firm presentations on campus, and I wanted to ask what the best way to network was? Whenever I walk around, I always hear people asking questions like "what do you do on a daily basis," "what are the hours like?," "do you like your job?" and I feel that if I get as bored as I do listening to them talk, the employees from the firms probably feel the same.
I don't really want to ask them those questions, partly because they are so trite and partly because I think I already have a good feel of what the hours, work lifestyle is like. What are good things to talk about?? I don't necessarily have a problem speaking with people, it's just that the people that I do have random conversations with, are usually people my age so I can just say anything out of my ass. I'm not sure what's appropriate conversation when it comes to dealing w/ analysts, associates, VP's, etc.
Also, once I do get their contact info and e-mail them, how do I keep in contact with them until recruiting season? Isn't it weird, as an employee at a bank, to keep getting e-mails from some kid you met at a fair, telling you about what his plans are for Christmas break or what he's doing in school?
yea, but you gotta do it
