Cor Dev at junior mining firm or Back Office at BB?

The mining company has a mkt cap of about 500mm. Which one has the most potential in terms of career progression? I would eventually like to have a management role in a mining company or cover the industry in banking or ER.

You 100% made the right choice, and yes - you will be able to leverage the experience for banking

Many of the skills you'll develop in your mining Corp Dev role are very similar to what a junior banker does in a mining coverage group - industry knowledge/trends, views on commodity prices/demand/supply, developing technical knowledge (e.g. proven vs probable reserves, head grades, processing methods, cash costs etc) operational benchmarking (and things like how to calculate equivalent reserves+resources), valuation (especially how to model mines, calculate P/NAV etc), due diligence etc.

I would work hard and take on as much responsibility you can at your corp dev role. Keep your market knowledge up and stay in touch with your friends at the banks - when lateral opps open up, you'll be well positioned.
