Not in corp dev but have seen a lot of discussions around this transition and am also interested in this move (although more leaning on Competitive Intelligence). I'll try to list it out as clean as possible.

Assuming you make 110k USD in a HCOL and you move to Corp Dev in the same area, I'd assume your salary should range between a +-(5-10%) increase or decrease. Since your an AN1 I'd probably steer towards having a slight decrease in base (bonus looks to be 10-20% of base). So in all I wouldn't expect a material change in your salary but my estimates are more on the conservative side.

There are a couple factors that play into base comp; 1) Location, 2) Low vs High Acquisition company, 3) Title increase, 4) Industry, and 5) overall team structure. Best thing would be to A) reach out to current and former Corp Dev members to see what their experience has been and B) go to glassdoor and try to get a range of comp for the position and title you'd come in with.

Progression seems to be Analyst, Senior Analyst, Manager, Senior Manager, Director, Senior Direction, VP, and EVP. This could be different tho (again just trying to piece what I know).

VP corp dev is around banking asso 1/2 from what I've seen in hcol (even with equity, from what i understand). unless you are at a huge multi-bn enterprise.

though i'd appreciate any datapoints on the equity component when working for pe portfolio companies.
