Corp. Treasury experience?! PLZ help

Hello all,

I was just wondering that since both Corp dev/strat and Corp treasury are the best of corp finance at F500's what experience you need to get in treasury in specific. I know that to get into Corp dev u must either get top 10 MBA or have 2 year BB analyst experience.

Is it the same for Corp treasury? Or do people typically go there from undergrad? I also here that typically lots of them are pretty selective.

Also since Corp dev isnt really a core function I hear they are the ones that are fired first, is that true with Corp treasury? Is the comp structure also the same? Hours such.

Thanks to all again!!!! I really appreciate all the feedback

In Corp Dev, F200+, you usually only exist b/c the comp is growing, when it’s not you are out. Some companies will allow the analysts, managers to transfer, but b/c they are general get paid higher than others in the organization with the same titles it is pointless and expensive to keep them around.

Most Treasury guys I have met came from a banking background, commercial and Inv.

Here is another group you can research, Groups of managers/analysts that management and monitor the pension plans & capital market investments for F200 companies, outside of the typical financial 401k custodians. They are usually CFA holders. I have met maybe 2 of these guys my entire career. This is not related to Corp VC's, Corp Dev, Treasury units.

I see and so treasury/investments arent like that... hmm i was thinking of achieving my CFA as well atleast pass 1 of the exams by end of UG and yea i will do more research on that thanks
