Corporate Banking Lateral to IB

I know this has briefly been covered on here before but I want to get some more details on this. How likely is this lateral and when is the best time to shoot for it. I am considering many different factors here as I have a SA in corp banking and want to eventually move to IB. Is this possible after my summer stint? Do I have to wait after I get the return offer and do a year in corp banking? What about lateraling to a different firm and different city. Please let me know what is my best path to IB.

I was able to move from CB to IB after summer in CB. Make sure you start reaching out a few weeks after you start in Summer

In the same boat. Did a summer last summer in a CB group under CIB, and accepted the return offer (Comp is great when compared to IB). The industry I covered and will be covering is in a non-NYC office, and is really the only group in my physical office. So the way I see it is, im going to start my analyst stint, go to the 6-week training in NYC and network as much as I can with all the other incoming analysts in my class at my bank in other groups. Then return home and work as best as I can at the job to perform well, while maintaining those connections and making new ones with the office in NY. Ideally I would want to have recieved a postive performance review at some point during the year and once hitting that year 1 mark, I would use this along with the relationships I have built in the other groups to start conversations about the possibility of an internal move. My two cents.
