Corporate Banking MD Hours

Curious to hear CIB senior banker hours. Common sentiment around WSO is that CIB juniors work less than IBD juniors, but does that hold up at the senior levels? IBD seniors are known to be always on the road pitching, and I’d imagine CIB seniors would have to do the same since they also hold key relationships

Sat in a CB seat previously at the junior level so can add some color. D and MDs definitely have a chill lifestyle at least my bank (euro BB) but seem to be “on” a lot when it comes to client engagement. Usually that means phone calls throughout day and even at night, zoom meetings and pre-Covid a bunch of in person meetings. This is especially true when corporates are doing their annual refi and the bank wants to lead the deal. Given that happens once a year those meetings are always building the relationship and/or upselling the said bank’s additional products(DCM cap mkts capability, liability management, rate and fx hedging, yadda yadda). Always trying to please the treasury team. Still not a bad gig. I know we increased salaries last year to match the market so I imagine $250k-$300k+ at D/MD level with 1x on the bonus maybe 1.5x in a good year like last year. All in I would assume $600K-$800K+. Avg 40-50 hrs a week. On the higher end especially for a platform that generates decent fees from leading bond mandates, etc.
