I've heard of some pretty crazy stories about some things people have done in order to network/secure an IBD position. What are some of the more creative things you guys have heard of or done that ended up being successful?
Personally, the craziest thing I've seen happen was an acquaintance who volunteered at a wealthier retirement home and would network with the children visiting their parents. He got a GS/MS/JPM ibd SA from it sophomore year, BX M&A junior year, and now he's at a ~2B PE fund.

Sad that I'm tempted to do the same thing to prepare for FT? Normal networking hasn't gotten me anything for SA recruiting.
