Current and former analysts, how often do you see your family?

I'm moving in a few weeks to start my analyst stint in a new city, and my mom was asking me about booking a ticket home for thanksgiving the other day. I don't know how it just hit me, but aside from thanksgiving & xmas I won't have a given reason to fly home and visit my family the other 10 months a year. Family is important to me and it's a 9 hour drive between here and the city I'm moving to so coming back home on a random weekend for a birthday, wedding, etc. is much harder to pull off. On top of that, I'm in the office 4 days a week w/ limited PTO which I probably won't want to use just to go back to my hometown.

I say all of this to ask, how often were you able to visit your family during your analyst years and what should my expectations be given my circumstances?
