Deals on resume that I did not have much involvement?
Recently joined a group on and staffed on a deal that was announced, public, and still closing. I haven't done too much apart from writing down notes on one meeting that was just an earnings call and another that was private involving CEO, other counter parties in the deal.
Should I bother including that in my resume? It's a fairly sizeable deal but I don't wanna get burned on it during interviews (I don't know much abt it tbh since it's been such a small part of my experience so far).
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some key points to consider:
Involvement Level: If your involvement in the deal was minimal, it might be risky to include it on your resume. Interviewers often ask detailed questions about deals listed on resumes, and you need to be prepared to discuss specifics.
Detail and Specificity: If you decide to include the deal, be specific about your contributions. For example, you could mention that you "took notes during an earnings call and a private meeting involving the CEO and other counter parties."
Potential Risks: Including a deal where your role was minor could lead to challenging questions during interviews. If you cannot speak confidently about the deal, it might be better to leave it off your resume.
Alternative Focus: Instead of focusing on this deal, highlight other experiences where you had a more significant role. This will allow you to discuss your contributions more confidently during interviews.
In summary, if you feel unprepared to discuss the deal in detail, it might be best to exclude it from your resume. Focus on experiences where you had a more substantial impact and can speak about confidently.
