Deferred MBA Admittance

Hello all,

I recently got accepted to the deferral MBA program at Wharton. I was wondering, is this worth posting on LinkedIn? I am starting out in IB as an analyst and I was told that people would see it as a turn off because I wouldn’t be “as committed” which I think is bs because if anything I feel more committed to the job having a clear goal in sight. Would love to hear thoughts/perspectives on this, thanks!

Don't post it. Many of my future cohort didn't even make a post, just updated their profile to state they're incoming at our school.

I know a few of those who have posted something were recruiting pre-MBA  or attended events via Forte/military.

I, on the other hand, didn't receive any prestigious scholarship so I just stayed quiet and updated my profile to say I'm an incoming student at the specific program I got into.

I would post it on LinkedIn. I don’t know where you work, but if I posted it and my colleagues and boss saw that, they would be very happy for me, congratulate me and want to celebrate.

In my opinion, don't post it- very little reward for unnecessary risk. Your colleagues will think you're treating your job as a temporary stepping stone (might be, but no need to broadcast this) and will treat you differently. Maybe they would give you crappier staffings cause you're leaving anyways, or you will get a smaller bonus. Anyways, what's there to gain from posting?
